Councillor Harder presented Howard Whittaker ( Chair of the OPL Foundation)
a cheque for $45,000 raised from Councillor Harder's 6th annual Golf tournament held June 21 at Cedarhill Golf and Country Club to the Ottawa Public Library Foundation. In previous 5 years Councillor Harder and friends have raised over $200,000 for the Queensway Carleton Cancer centre expansion.

Fact Sheet
Giant Hogweed is a serious invasive plant that poses a moderate threat to human health and safety. The plant is native to Europe and Asia and was introduced as an ornamental. It is found in many areas in southern Ontario, and has recently been discovered in Renfrew County and small populations of the plant have been confirmed in the City of Ottawa. In each case municipal staff has started localized removal of the plant.

Ottawa – The Medical Officer of Health is issuing a Heat Warning until further notice. A heat warning is automatically declared when Environment Canada forecasts a humidex of 40 or more for at least two consecutive days. Extreme heat can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and even death.

Royal visit will impact traffic and transit |

Ottawa - Residents of the National Capital Region can expect traffic and transit delays, disruptions and detours during the Queen’s visit to Ottawa from June 30 to July 3, 2010. Road closures will begin at approximately 10 a.m. on June 30 until late morning July 3. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time, particularly in the downtown core and when the Queen is moving to and from the airport.

Ottawa Council approves Lansdowne redevelopment |

Ottawa – City Council today voted to proceed with the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park.
Council voted 15 to 9 to approve the Lansdowne Partnership Plan that includes refurbishment of the stadium and Civic Centre, creation of a large urban park and construction of a mixed-use area that includes shops, offices and residences.
